First Step™ Cup - Urine Drug Testing Kit

The First Step Cup Testing Kit is a rapid urine drug screening test designed to detect multiple drugs and their metabolites in human urine using immunoassay technology.

This easy to use instant cup uses monoclonal antibodies to identify elevated levels of specific drugs in urine, with results typically available in 1–2 minutes.

A negative sample produces a coloured line in the test region, while a positive sample will not produce a line for that drug. A coloured control line confirms the test has run correctly and the sample has migrated through the test device.

First Step Cup Testing Kit Procedures

Allow the test device, specimen, and controls to reach room temperature (15–30°C) before testing.

1. The donor provides a urine sample directly into the First Step Cup, ensuring the sample level is above the minimum urine level mark.
2. Check the temperature indicator shortly after collection. A green dot should appear to confirm the sample temperature is within the valid range (32–38°C / 90–100°F). Read within 4 minutes.
3. Check the specimen validity/adulteration strip within 2 minutes and compare the colour pads to the reference chart. If adulteration is indicated, do not interpret the drug test results and collect a new sample.
4. Read the drug test results at 5 minutes. Do not interpret results after 10 minutes.

Non-negative results should be confirmed by laboratory testing (GC/MS or LC/MS). Seal the sample with the security label and send the specimen to a certified toxicology laboratory for confirmation.

• Benzodiazepines (BZO): 200 ng/mL
• Cocaine (COC): 150 ng/mL
• Marijuana (THC): 50 ng/mL
• Methamphetamine (METH): 300 ng/mL
• Opiates (OPI): 300 ng/mL
